WHO ARE THESE GUYS?​

D emerged from a chrysalis attached to a thistle in a remote Scottish glen shortly after the Highland Clearances. When he spread his wings he found he could not fly as hoped, except under the influence of gravity. He trained in large bowls of porridge, enabling him in later years to swim confidently up greasy off-widths.

 

 

M was born at a very young age to a family so poor that, unlike many of his friends, he only ever had two parents. He started climbing when he was 25, in 1863, and since then the speed of his descent through the grades on the rocks of northern England has been rivalled only by the speed of the demise of Northern Rock.
